I think it's important to note that bright, healthy, glowing skin need not come out of a highlighter stick. It's actually very easy to get an even, radiant complexion with the swipe of a face mask, cream or serum. Let's begin with my favourite brightening masks and how these can boost the juiciness of your skin in a single step.

The creme de la creme of healthy, plump skin, starts with this little bottle. It's the REN Glycol Lactic Radiance mask and as the name suggests, it's one of those "swipe and watch the magic happen" masks. It's one I chose to use on my wedding day as it instantly preps the skin for your serum and moisturiser, and the result is a youth boosted glow that can't be found anywhere else. It's got a number of different ingredients that acts as a cocktail chemical exfoliant. Comprising of glycolic, lactic, citric and tartaric acids all derived from fruits such as pineapple,  passionfruit, lemon and grape, so it literally is a skincare cocktail of sorts. Just don't be tempted to eat it, I guarantee it doesn't taste like it sounds!

Mario Badescu Enzyme Revitalising Mask

A clay based mask such as this is great to purify the skin and extract any excess oil from within the skin's surface. I use this on a Sunday night, before the work week begins as it smells like a spa day, and what better way to pamper your skin then a staycation spa night? Another mask to use grapefruit and papaya extracts means it's Alpha-Hydroxy base will enhance exfoliation.  It's hugely beneficial to skin cell turnover and will help to revive dull complexions. I know this is a go to for me as it's cleansing, and revitalising without the crustiness of some clay based masks, not to mention, you skin feels rejuvenated without any dryness after.

Mario Badescu Whitening Mask

My very first skincare purchase, when I suffered terribly by adult-onset acne, was this mask. Why? Because all that acne scarring is enough to keep you inside the house, never wanting to leave. Because I have a darker complexion, my skin and many of you out there will understand, is prone to heightened levels of hyperpigmentation. What would normally be a small spot, would leave a mark so intense, it would be around for months, even years. This mask is ideal for events, and to keep on top of any scarring that may exist. Another clay based wonder, Mario Badescu's whitening formulation (Kojic Acid, Licorice and Grape extracts) keeps the skin supple in treating the pigmentation you may have. It brightens your overall complexion and ultimately is a dream before hitting the town as it creates a beautiful canvas for whatever makeup you'll be wearing after. It's also great as it helps to layer a serum and moisturiser on too! Call it my wonder bra, for your face. It's incredibly uplifting.

Mario Badescu Cream Peel

Ok, this one's a oddity, but it's f*ing fabulous. It's a cream peel, hear me out, you won't look like Samantha Jones after a chemical one on that episode of SATC. You need the lightest of layers on your face, then in circular motions start rubbing it off (get your mind out of the gutter). It should create small threads and come off, any excess? Wash off with warm water, it says to use toner, but I don't think you'll need that on top of this. Now I'm going to ask you a question? Do you see it, as in look at your skin again. AMAZING. This mask is the one no-one really talks about, so much emphasis is usually placed on clay based masks, but this, holy crap. It's incredible for exfoliation, it doesn't remove the top layer of skin but it reveals the brightest complexion your face has seen since you were a baby. It's underrated, but it's on my "get it now" list. Trust me, you'll never go back!
